Alright, this is still all tentative at the moment, but so far it looks solid.
What:
The usual furmeet at an all you can eat Suishi restaurant, with a twist: It will be held at the Banc Suishi restaurant out on Montreal Rd.
A couple of months ago, Beta and myself decided to go for Suishi. This turned into a mini-meet at the last minute, and (apparently), I overlooked the fact that Beta was working that day. Poor Beta
I did, however, promise to go for Suishi with him sometime to make up for it...hence this meet.
Everyone, however, is welcome to attend.
Where:
As previously mentioned, Banc Suishi is located at 919 Montreal Road on the eastern side of the city. Click here for a Google Map of the location.
Getting There:
By Bus
For those unfamiliar with the area, the easiest way to reach Banc Suishi is by OC Transpo. Simply take a bus to Blair station (I recommend either the 95 Orleans or 94 Millennium) and then transfer to the '12 Downtown' bus. It will get you to Banc Suishi within 15 minutes (the stop is just after the NRC building- which is rather hard to miss considering it's size. If unsure, ask the Bus Driver to point out the complex. Banc Sushi is shortly after, on the right side.)
The 12 leaves Blair station every 10 minutes on Saturdays, so you will not be waiting long for the bus. Click here for OC Transpo's bus schedules. I highly recommend the Bus Travel Planner to help plan a route if you're not comfortable figuring out when to catch which bus when to get somewhere.
By Car
If you plan on driving instead, the easiest way to get to Banc Sushi is head North on St. Laurent Boulevard from the 417 Exit, and then turn right onto Montreal Road. Banc Suishi is only a few blocks from St. Laurent Boulevard, and will be on your left.
When:
I have already called Banc Sushi and made inquiries about reservations for 12:00 on Saturday, July 4th, 2009. Unlike Sushi Kan, Banc Sushi's lunch goes for an extra hour on Saturday (11:30 ~ 16:00) and has no time limit that I know of. Therefor, assuming we're all seated and ordering by 12:30, we should have more than 3 full hours to chat and dine.
In other words, there should be no excuse for you if you don't walk away full.
Misc:
Pricing:
Banc Sushi's Menu can be found here. As you can see, Lunch will cost a minimum of $14.99 plus tax and tip. Assuming you pay the standard tip of 15%, it should come in just under $20.00 (~$19.65).
Like Thousand Islands, ice cream is free. Standard beverages (pop, ice cream floats and ice tea) are $1.00. Alcohol is considerably more expensive.
Water and tea are free of course.
Reservations:
If you plan on attending, please let me know in advance so I can make a reservation in case we turn out to be a larger group. I already called Banc Sushi and asked if it would be a problem if we turned out to be a large group and had extra people show up at the last minute... I was told this shouldn't be a problem, but I'd like to keep the number of extra people to a minimum.
Bottom line: Please let me know in advance if you're coming.
Contacting Me:
Feel free to text me by phone, or call me after 17:00 on weekdays (Anytime Weekends). If I don't get back to you immediately, I'm probably working and will get back to you later.
If you don't have my phone number, please either leave me a message through MSN Messenger (I rarely pay attention to it, so don't worry if I don't get back to you quickly) or contact me through the Forum's PM system.
Rides:
I will most likely be driving for this meet, so if you're in Orleans and in dire need of a ride, let me know. If you're in dire need, and not in Orleans... let me know, and maybe we can work something out.
I've already got most of my seats filled, however...
If you can (and would like to) provide rides, please let others know.
Honestly though... OC Transpo is the probably the best way to get there.
Birthdays:
If it happens to be your Birthday on July 4th *cough* Tassik *cough* and turn up...I may be persuaded to pick up your tab
