I know it's possible to do it without too much work. A site I frequent, nearbygamers.com, uses an embedded google map.

Hmm... It's up to the admins to actually say if this is possible or not. At worst we could actually make an actual webpage. I could potentially make a Drupal page which would basically be a blog (I can modify the code to make it do absolutely anything I'd want) and we could put the map up there, along with links to various places such as the forum. We'd basically become another ontariofurry.ca (Or whatever the name is)

Although this is a LOT of work, but I at least have a dedicated tower I could run it off of. All I'd need is permission to use capitalfurs.ca as a domain name from Peaci.

I'm not so sure about putting up home addresses or anything on the map, I mean, people can if they want I guess but I definitely won't be.

I like the idea of the map because it makes it easy to put the general area you're in without putting your address. I mean, I would put my dot at the corner of Rideau and King Edward--it's a commonly-known location that's just a 3 minute walk from my place.

Viewing works perfectly fine, even without a Google login.

Embedding the map inside of the forum would be incredibly difficult, if not impossible.

As for editing, feel free to PM me with locations of any descript. Google Maps accepts vague points on the map, so I am capable of adding a spot near your place, rather than having to broadcast your entire address.

If you wish to have Collab/edit rights simply PM me with your Google Login, and I shall add you.

Now please excuse me while I add a whole lot more beer to the map.

If you could mod the skins, it's a piece of cake to embed stuff in PHPBB... if you could mod the skins. Unlike WordPress, which has been built for hosting and so have hooks you can plug into, PHPBB gives you the source code and lets you hack it... works for most forums. But not this.

So maybe instead we could make a new thread with a link to the map and sticky that... that still won't be very visible though.

Anyway, since we have a map I guess we could use a calendar as well (Edit: ). Although, I'd rather not have the responsibility to maintain that thing...
