If there's no online component, why do you need your laptop at all :P?

I know what you're saying and playing devil's advocate here, but most my professors blanket ban laptops if there's no online component in the course.

Don't you see? It's because he just wants to play WoW during his classes :p So obvious. :p

On a serious note, your best answer seems to be to simply pick up a second battery for your laptop. Almost all have removeable batteries these days so carring around a spare shouldnt be a huge challenge. And a single spare should probably tide you over untill you can plug it in again.

You can go on eBay and typically buy additional batteries for your model of laptop.  You can also get them OEM but they tend to cost a hell of a lot more.

I actually got a D-Bay battery for my laptop a couple years ago and paid $17+shipping for it.  In the case of my laptop, as the 'D-Bay' is modular, normally holding an optical drive but it can be hot swapped for a second battery, floppy, or second hard drive.  Considdering how rarely I use the optical, the second battery is always installed...

...Infact I'm not even quite sure where the optical is right now.  *looks around*

go to a doler store and buy an extension cord.  Much easier than waiting on s&h for a battery.  You probably have a laptop carry bag right? put the cord in there for transport to and from class.
