Making money in-world is difficult. Every $L I've ever spent came the old fashioned way; I bought it. Real money can be exchanged for in-world money, and vice verca. 1000L$ is US$3.85, or CAN$4.15. Not so bad, eh!

No no no, you don't need to whore yourself out at all! SL$, or Linden, cost real money and can be bought with a creditcard or paypal or something on their homepage. There are also a few in-game bank terminals that work the same way in SL itself.

If you know where to search for places as described earlier in this thread, you can then go to places such as... Rijin GYC, one of the biggest malls that I know of and get yourself some items and/or furry avatars (characters) there ^_^ I don't remember where to get the free ones, but if you see some furries around, just ask them. Most are very friendly and happy to help.

You can get some free avatars, but the ones with more effort put into them cost a few Linden, usually from 500L to 1000L.
