I think it's the fact that you can still clearly see who the roommate is, but his face is all scribbled out. You didn't completely block it out, as you would if you were protecting his privacy, and you didn't leave it blank, as you would if you had a good relationship.
Of course, it could just be that you didn't know how to increase the brush size in order to block out his face well for privacy. :P
