Random Canada Day Stuff

Postby tecywiz121 » 02 Jul 2009, 15:46

So, I was fooling around last night with inkscape, and I made a few random Canada related images.  Please note these are SVG images, and may not work in Internet Explorer

Paw
Maple Leaf
Furry Flag

They are vector images, which means that instead of storing color values for each pixel, like a png or a gif, an svg image uses mathematical formulas to build your image.  Basically it means they can be resized to infinity without distorting.  Also most printing companies like vector images.

To view them, you can install one of:

Inkscape (Editor) : http://inkscape.org
Firefox (Web Browser) : http://getfirefox.com
SVG Plugin for IE:  http://www.adobe.com/svg/viewer/install/main.html

I think that altering the design of our nations flag to suit your own political message is rather disrespectful.

There's no political message here, the flag is a way to specify that the furries in question are Canadian.

I used the paw print on the flag from yesterday as a starting point :)

It'd be disrespectful depending on who you'd come across since people have varied levels of acceptance/tolerance (more-so to a fault in the fur fandom imo), not to mention it'd just make yourself stand out horribly in a crowd if you were waving a flag around like that in public, ignoring that you essentially defaced the flag of the country, be it a paw, or fagging it up.
(not to mention how cliché it would be to rainbow it up.........seriously, rainbows are overdone in the gay community. I'm not sure who decided having a rainbow with one less colour would best represent people liking a particular sexual orientation also.  To me it'd be better put to symbolize multiculturalism based on our varied colours due to the many ethnic groups living within the country..............I think I just opened a whole can of worms there for people to dissect and debate further ;/ )

Just a reality check is all, not everything is rainbows and butterflies in the real world.

Anyhow, whoo!  SVG graphics, wish they were more adopted on the net.  Have to resort to either Flash or rasterize one into a PNG for others to see.   -.-
(least it's gotten progressively better support in Firefox since v1)

On a side note, what's with everyone leaning towards canine paw graphics in the fur fandom anyhow?  There's more than just slobbering wolves and dogs in the group.  :P

What's you use t compose these anyhow Tecy, Fireworks?
