What does it take to get a job around here?

In the past 3 1/2 months, I have handed out close to 100 resumes. I've received 4 call backs, two of which I was fairly certain would result in a job. One of these was Subway.
I got turned down for a job at Subway.

After not making the cut for this job, I decided to apply at the KFC near Algonquin (Baseline rd). They do all their applications online, which is fine. So, today, I received an email about my application:

KFC Douchebags wrote:We have received your application and would like to thank you for your interest in working at Priszm.

However, after careful consideration we will be proceeding with other candidates whose background and experience more closely match the requirements of the position.

Thanks again for your interest in Priszm and good luck in your job search.

This is bullshit! In the beginning, I avoided fast food because I wanted a job in retail. After not getting a job, I figured fast food would give me a job because I've had two different food experiences (Harvey's and Tim Horton's) which lasted for a little over a year combined. How can that not qualify me for an entry level fast food position? I've also worked at Zellers, Loblaws, and I held a position as a Teaching Assistant for co-operative education.

Why doesn't anybody want a hard-working high school graduate attending a local college with more experience than the next student?

Damn that sux Well u said that u r a grad that could be part of it.  Management is leagaly obligated to pay u more than your highschool bound counterparts.

Also ask yourself:

- am i swearing accidentally and not noticing

- do i wear any overly large earrings to the interview

- do i under dress

- do i wear too much perfume, makeup or nail polish

- do i smell lemony fresh

Keep a stiff upper lip, yull find something

Seems to me this may be the reason for so many nos these days. With the way the economy's been lately, alot of places are looking for quick, cheap hires. Bringing in someone skilled means more money outta their pockets, and they don't want that. Keep your feelers out though, I know you'll find something for sure. :3

Actually, they are only legally obligated to pay me based on age, not education.

And I know I'm not swearing. I'm not that kind of person. I swear very infrequently to begin with. I never wear earrings, either. I over dress, rather than under dress (not too much, though). I never wear perfume, makeup, or nail polish... I wish it was something that easy, so that I could fix it ._.

I am in the same boat... I had two interviews, both of which they said I would likely have a job within a week.  One at a source, which is currently bogged down in red tape bullsh*t, and the other at Solo, who needs a true fulltime employee, which I can't do during the school year.  I understand Solo... but damn them anyways :P

Oh, as for my worst rejection... I got turned down by CONVERGYS!!

Everyone is pretty much in the same boat these days to be honest.

There's a reason I've not been ablet o find a full time job, or even a second job in over a year and a half.

It's summer.

Fast Food is going to be PACKED with people on their summer break, I imagine if you reapply to half of these places in the fall you'll have better luck.
