The Bus Rant...

Postby Mat » 05 Mar 2009, 09:58

Ok, since my return to Ottawa for my March Break, I've noticed a few changes around town... ESPECIALLY with the buses...

WHY did they split up the 111? WTF? I used to take that everywhere.... Now I can't get a direct bus from my place to St. Laurent mall... PISS ME OFF!!!

Same deal with the 85... It don't go to St. Laurent either... Now its a chore to get to, and return from, St. Laurent...

Also, there's all these new buses that make NO SENSE at all.

FUCK OC TRANSPO!!!

Oh, and one final thing, anyone know what with the random fingers and hands on the transitway coming from Lincoln Fields, going into the city???

I really appreciate the fact that the 85's route has been shortened. I live towards the Bayshore end of the 85's route and since the route's been clipped, it's been a lot more reliable. No more waiting 40 minutes only to have 3 show up at once.

I talked around and no one seems to know... it's probably Carleton art students stuff.

But were you here when OC Transpo went on strike?  Were you stuck taking the taxi every day to get to work?  Did you fail to get your christmas shopping done?  Did you fail to get to a new years party because of a lack of busses?  Did you have to put up with the ATU president and his lack of public relation skills?  Did you watch drivers get harrassed by striking bus drivers?  Were you stuck living away from home just so you could get to work?  Taking illegal taxis?  All because some fuckers wanted to pick their own schedule?  Those expandable fucks...  Not a lot of people know this, but a lot of senior bus drivers wanted to keep that privilege so they could switch shifts with their buddies and get time and a half for filling in for someone else.

Nothing they do from now on will ever top that...

I wasnt here for the ENTIRE strike... came back home for christmas... i had plans to hang out with old friends, but i couldnt get ANYWHERE... fucking waste of time... For a week strait, i was at home, in my PJ's doing nothing while the rest of my family was working and whatnot!

Well, at least its better then back at School... by far, the WORST bus system... 20 bus routes only, 2 busses to each route. And for each route, the bus only comes once every 30mins. After 6, most busses are reduced to 1 an hour, or just cut altogether...

I take the 106 (which takes over the 85's former run from Hurdman to Elmvale) every day on my way in to work when i'm no evening shift. Since it starts at hurdman, and I get off the 95 at hurdman, it's a lot more reliable than having to wait for the 85 to show up at 3:30 in the afternoon when the traffic and busses are bad and slow. I couldn't rely on the 85 before, but now I can rely on this, since it starts at hurdman. Also getting on the 8 at that time of day is like riding in a gross sardine can.. I've stopped taking it period.

Its awfully convenient to be living right on the 95 route. ^_^

The hands were commissioned by a local artist, Mark Marsters.

As you head in downtown, they wish you a good day (thumbs up) tell you to keep your head up (upwards shooting arrows), wishing you good fortune (the golden one) and other positive messages like that :P. On the other side, heading back out of downtown, one waves goodbye.

I cant remember all of them, but thats the main idea.
