TMNT: Turtles In Time Re-Shelled Reviewed By Ethan Wolfcat

INTRO:
Now Of course a lot of you knows the 80's cartoon show Teenage mutant ninja turtles. I personally think it was one of the greatest 80's cartoon of all time. With all th popularity of the turtles, Video games was created. Like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the NES (1988), The Arcade game (1988, also ported to the NES) and many, many more. But the one i'm most interested in, is the 4th one. Turtles In Time on SNES, that was Remade (re-mixed or "re-shelled") for Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.

The Review:
There is something that hit me when I launch this "Re-shelled" version for the first time. Where is the classic intro that everybody knows from the classic cartoon series? Right off the bat the cut out a classic moment of the classic game... not cool. As far as I remember, every game I played of TMNT has it.

When I start playing the game I noticed another that caught my attention. The Music. Unfortunately, the music in this "Re-shelled" version is not the one you'll be waiting for. They are totally different from the other versions. Which is a very big disappointment. I was waiting for a remixed of the "Boss theme", "Alleycat Blues" And "Bury my shell at wounded knee"

Original Music Themes:

Bury My Shell At Wounded Knee ----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVEUcojniuE&fmt=18
Alleycat Blues ----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPqOJBVSweQ&fmt=18
Boss Battle -----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Jwju0zJB08&fmt=18

Now some of you might noticed that there is a few level's missing like "Technodrome - Let's Kick Shell". It is simply because the "Re-shelled" the Original Arcade which didn't have these levels but only the SNES version did. And that is also why you don't fight Bebop and Rocksteady on the pirate ship. I personally think that the SNES port was better. This is my opinion.

A lot of people was expected the Remake of the SNES version and thats why a lot don't really appreciate this "Re-shelled" version. And I am one of them.

It is still a fun game to play with 4 player co-op online or local. And I must say it's pretty neat to have this features. Neat graphics but the turtles and enemies are bigger looking compared to the other versions. You need to get use to it.

Price: 10$ Fair, I guess.

My Rating: 3 turtle shells out of 5. Check it out.

Also, I found that the character movements made it harder to play. For someone who grew up with the SNES version (and the arcade, to a lesser extent), I got used to characters hitting/comboing at a certain speed and at a certain rhythm and I found this game TOTALLY lacked that. The animations are sped up from the original and the hits don't have the same impact, making combos (especially the throws) a lot harder. Also, since it's the arcade version, the special attacks aren't there. You just leap forward and attack (like in the original Turtles arcade game).

Fun title and it's only $10, but seriously, how many times are you actually going to play through it?
