Stress...

Postby Andrej » 26 Jan 2009, 23:31

I just underwent a whole hour of verbal attacks and "preferred customer" B.S. AND got over the fear of getting attacked at work, or after closing. This was all from 2 customers in my last hour of work.  Anyone got any quick stress relief ideas? I can`t even relax. :(

I know that feeling. Had to deal with a guy who wanted something repaired for free because he broke it two days after the warranty ended, and ended up annoying the hell out of us.

My recommendation?
Do something very relaxing or something very not relaxing. That one I can't help with.

Or, play with this until your brain melts:

Amidst the mists and fiercest frosts,
With barest wrists and stoutest boasts,
I thrust my fists against the posts,
And still insist I see the ghosts.

lawl, once again. I work in a pawn shop, I've had people threaten to come over the counter at me all the time. I had one guy threaten to come back with his 'crew' 'cause I pulled his PSP that was 31 days past the due date. The funny part of this being that he even tried to argue that we weren't supposed to pull anything until after 31 days... when it was actually 30 days, and he's a retard for knowing it was 30-31 days and -still- waited until the 31st day. The PSP was still sitting on the counter charging, so it was RIGHT there too, and I got to tell him he couldn't have it. Was satisfying.

Or this one guy I had to threaten to call the cops on 'cause he threw a shitfit when I told him he couldn't have his stuff back (that I'd held past the 30 day limit because he was a regular customer) without paying late fees. People are nuts, just remember that chances are good those guys that gave you a hard time were A) Too stupid to figure out how to get over the counter B) Massive pussies that wouldn't have tried anything anyway C) Not stupid enough to assault an employee in the middle of a store

But yeah, the only thing you can do is try not to get worked up about it. Go home, watch some tv, masturbate, whatever x3

Don't try to just relax.  You need to take your mind off of it.  Try working out.  Exhaust yourself.  You'll be so tired by the end your body won't bother with stress.

Poochie's got the right idea, distract yourself, don't focus on it, don't try to vent, just do something else. talking to people about it and listening to they're advice is a good way to help in th future, but right now, you need to get your mind off it. If you're at work still and unable to work out or anything like that, try playing a game, chatting with people or if you're like me, build something out of stuff lying around. I'm currently folding paper into random stuff to take my mind off of annoying clients.
