Real fur clothing/accessories

Postby Twilight » 28 Jul 2009, 13:26

My parents bought me a synthetic fur hat with a genuine raccoon tail. I don't want to wear it because it has a real raccoon tail but it looks really nice. If I wear it, I might offend other furries.  :(

Well, you can do two things:

1) If you like it, really like it, wear it and don't give a damn what others think. It's your choice what you want to wear or not.

2) If you like the way it looks, but don't really want to wear it, put it on a shelf or something and when they ask... Say you're afraid of ruining it so you just want to display it in your room  :P

Well the harm is done (the act of purchase) you didn't had anything to do with it now throwing it out would just be pure waste.

Just be careful not to let Zets too near of it. He'll try to bury it.

I'd agree with Scarlet, Its really up to you.. I don't agree with Real fur but if they get mad at you for something silly like that their not worth having as a friend.. Not like people flip out for eating Beef, At Worst some Raccoon might be a little scared of the hat x3

Frankly, if it looks good and you like it, wear it. Real fur is kind-of cruel but, all told, I wouldn't avoid wearing it to keep yourself from offending furries. In your day-to-day life, I don't think the fandom's opinion is the biggest thing you really have to worry about.

If you don't like it, then don't make excuses and be upfront about it.

(I need to get that series on DVD bad)

On a more serious note, I'm personally not a fan of wearing real fur/animal parts in general, but I won't hate on a person for it.  It's called being tolerant of others.  If someone gives you shit for it, then that just shows the kind of person they are and shouldn't have a real bearing on your decision.

*shrugs*  Doesn't matter to me :P

Honestly?  You'd have to be pretty small-minded to be offended by a hat.

Also, Reboot is awesome.

Often at cons there are dealers sellinh real tails and stuff. And alot of people seem to buy them. I saw a kitsune fur with 9 of them:p its better is the fur was salvaged then if the animal was killed for the fur and alot of suppliers go to lengths to note that but really once the purchase has been done the supplier has theyre money and will try and sell more next time.

Beaded dreams Downtown eats 90% of the stuff they sell as pelts later.

what they can't eat  is fully used, I get my white rabbit pelts from them.
