Anyone here attend University and use a laptop to keep their notes?
Anyone do this in a classroom that has limited power outlets?
Yes? Then you know what I'm talking about here!
I'm sitting in class right now and while I still have plenty of battery charge left on my laptop, I'm reminded of the times when I'm stuck being only partially charged in the middle of class with the risk of running out of battery power before the class is over.
What reminded me of this? There's only about 4 power outlets in the classroom, and right now 2 of them are being blocked by students that 1) don't have laptops but 2) Are sleeping! Because of the placement of the outlets there's only a few seats that are able to reach them, and it annoys me when there's plenty of open seats throughout the classroom but people without laptops take all the seats around the power outlets!
Usually they'll move if you ask, but there've been a few times when they haven't, and I mean, seriously? That's just rude and obnoxious. The newest building actually offers outlets at -every- seat, they built them right into the tabletop. That's awesome, I enjoy being able to plug in my laptop if I have to without having to sit at a specific seat, but unfortunately a large number of the classrooms don't offer this feature.
I really wish they'd institute a 'priority seating' policy like they have on buses, seriously. If you have a laptop, you should be able to get a seat beside one of the outlets if you need it, if you don't have a laptop there's like 328529359250932590239052985 other seats you can choose from that are just as good as the one you're taking that's possibly causing other people to be unable to take notes!
Ugh. Just a pet peeve of mine. I've had my battery die before because I'll be in a 3 hour class and can't get at an outlet, and it's extremely annoying.
