I'd like to get to know some more of Ottawa's local artists and performers in hopes of going to see more concerts. So I'd appreciate if people could post links to some bands, DJ's whatever that perform around Ottawa. Quality is not an issue or anything.

NoiseMonger. My sister's ex's ex band (confusing yet true)
Her ex had written a song I heard them perform at one point in time. It was a breakup song that demonized my sister (she loved that song...). There was one line in there that said: " P.O.O.C.H.I.E.! Find out what it means to me!" ^^

One of my buddies is in a Ska band: The Bad News Bears.

They're a different kind of ska, really make it into their own, however, I think they're on some sort of hiatus or something.

I know them.  My boyfriend used to live with Seancore.  We see him now and again at the grocery store too.

So, do you know if they're still together or not? Some say they are, other say no. My insider info says no, but i dunno anymore

Their latest blog entry says they ain't together.  Although you might wanna check out The Possums.  Used to know the guitarist a bit.

Believe it or not, the newspaper is a great place to look for info on local bands. I think it's Thursday's Citizen that has an "in the clubs" feature that features spotlights on local bands and DJ's and upcoming gigs. It's in the Arts section.

XPress is great for concert listings and neat bands, local or not.

well they're not from ottawa, but if you ever see a show listing with metal band Unexpect, cancel everything you have that day and go to it. they come here from time to time, and they deserve way more recognition than they've had so far. best original show i ever went to.

Quo Vadis is also from montreal but theyre pretty much local favorites in ottawa, they had a severe lineup change though, so idk when they'll come back. but they kick ass every time.

but theyre all from Montreal lol. they just come here often enough. tbh there isn't THAT much out of ottawa afaik. theres a lot of random metal bands that come and go. but then again i havent been to shows in ages and i wont for awhile.
