Capital Furs

Well, last night for me sure was one of the most stressful night i ever had... Since my mom knew about what was going on with my sexuality, she decides to go tell my dad... What a horrible night it was... Since my dad is really not cool with Bi's and Gays...  



So ya this ends up that they want to talk about it for tonight. Just wanted to know for some advice on this matter.

Not sure there's any advice anyone can really give ya, man.

It's a shitty situation, but it's one you're just going to have to deal with now. I mean, if he comes into it being all upset and close-minded about your sexual preferences, all I think anyone can really suggest is don't buy into it and definitely don't get angry back... all that'll do is justify HIS anger in his mind and give him (again, in his mind), the moral high-ground to rain righteous fury down on you.

Be calm, stay calm. By doing so you can possibly make him seem silly in his own mind for sitting there screaming at you while you're being completely reasonable back.

That being said, he might not even be angry, just confused. You may be imagining a worst-case scenario that never happens.

When MY parents found out...

My mom caught me in the middle of a yiff session with some friends.
My stepfather stumbled upon one of my Doug Winger images.

It wasn't pleasant either. Especially since I got kicked out a few months later.

But don't lose hope, as it's not the end of the world.

What does this have to do with the furry fandom?

Not questioning the validity of the thread, just the title, I expected a different breed of drama from the title. o.O;;;

He wanted an opinion from the furry fandom Ashes.  Agreed, this was obvious from the fact it was posted on this forum, but adding it to the title is just a reminder of sorts.  There's also the fact that it is widely known that many furs face this sort of situation, not only because of the negative stigma associated with furries, but also because of the disproportion of bisexual and homosexuals in this fandom.

There is also the potential that he may wind up having to explain the whole furry fandom to his family as well. Along with perhaps how to deal with how other people deal with their family and the general public's views on the furry fandom.

Either way man, seriously, what the fuck is with you picking on things like that in a case like this? Are you seriously that insensitive to people?



Anyway, to Lycus, all I can suggest is go in hoping for the best but expecting the worst. Not everyone handles the issues the same way. Some parents are totally cool with it, others totally flip out. And then sometimes you have one parent who's totally cool with it and one who totally flips out.  Other times there's just a sort of uncomfortale middle ground that exists from then on.

It may seem like the question doesnt belong in all this, but is your father against Bi's and Gays due to religious belief or just 'in general'? If it's the latter it's probably a little more likely he'll come around. If religion is comming into this you may have a much harder time with it since he'll potentially have alot of support for his negative outlook regardless of how wrong said outlook is, I mean just look at the present Pope and how mideval ages his outlook is.

Worst comes to worst though, just remember you have friends here who are willing to offer you support, even if we can not necessarily do anything more than give you advice.
