Ashes Flaming People Over MSN

Postby Ironklaw » 08 Aug 2009, 10:35

Just as a head up to you delightful forum-going folks, Ashes has been adding members of the forum to MSN (or whichever messenger they use) and flaming them. He's rather angry that we announced his banning and is thus pursuing his assorted arguments over instant messengers. There's very little we can do about this -the forums are publicly viewable without logging in- so all the advice I can offer is that if he contacts you and flames you, just block or ignore him. If he contacts you for any other reason, then by all means chat with him. He can be an interesting conversationalist, most of the time.

Hello, friendly whistle blower here, I hear from reliable sources that Ashes is being copied and that the person adding people to MSN and flaming are -NOT- him. Annd now, a quote from from Ashes himself on the matter.

Ashley wrote:I don't really appreciate the maturity demonstrated by Capital Furs admins by resorting to image meme trolling in this warning thread.  It sets a pretty low brow example for others.

Today, Monday the 10th is the first I’ve heard of this.  Probably because I’ve never added anyone to my MSN in weeks, with one single exception, where I warned someone that if they attempted a foolish at a convention I staff, like they had another, they would be removed from the convention by police force if necessary.  (I think we all know what that incident refers to and it wasn’t a flame)

Aside from that, I haven’t added anyone to MSN and haven’t been trolling anyone.  I would appreciate it if someone were to reveal what MSN accounts that ‘I’ was supposedly using to do this.  My MSN account is cameraonat82@hotmail.com and I have this suspicion that the address ‘I’ used wasn’t mine at all; because it wasn’t me.

I had an interesting event happen to me on Saturday evening myself and after reading this thread I believe that it is connected and likely the same person pretending to be me.  Someone, claiming to be a furry visiting Ottawa and ‘knew my furry friends’ asked me to go ‘hang out with them’ but refused to say who these furry friends were.  It was pretty creepy and I had actually posted about it, including a log, on CrushYiffDestroy after midnight on Saturday (I guess Sunday morning).

I regret to inform you but the admins are falsely warning this forum’s membership.  And be honest, when have I ever actually flat out flamed someone?  I don’t flame people.  I make snide remarks that I actually believe in.  That’s my style.

However, there is a bright side to this situation and that is that I have an archnemesis apparently.  How many people can say that?

In the future I would appreciate it if Capital Furs admins took the bare minimum effort to ensure their warnings were accurate before using their forum as a medium to denounce a person to the entire fandom of a city.

You do realize that the only way someone could 'copy' him is if they took his email addy right? The complaint we received was concerning Ashes email address, not his name directly.

So I'd say it'd be quite the challenge to 'copy' him short of hacking his account... especially to flame them for something that HE'D already attempted to flame them for.

Seems pretty suspicious to me.

And he can crusade against us evil admins all he wants, but he doesn't have a leg to stand on and his infatuation with declaring us evil for holding him responsible for his actions is running a little long.

But by all means, he can continue to rampage about how horrible we are, I've yet to lose a second of sleep over it. His personal vendettas are his problem, nobody elses.

Please then, share the logs with me, and the rest of the community? Showing the email address of course. Are you sure that it's not merely someone with the -name- set to his email?

I'm not at liberty to display information like conversation logs that frankly, don't involve you. We're not policing MSN and as such the logfile itself is inconsequential, suffice it to say complaints were made and align perfectly with his behavior in the recent past, and his email was provided by the complaintent as the email address of the member that had added and flamed him.

Knowing full well you either are Ashes, or one of his 'friends', I would say your biases in the matter would make your opinion suspect anyway, so I don't see any reason to give your accusations and Ashes brilliantly biased and outright vengeful behavior much thought.

That being said, your 'whistle blowing' is noted and Ashes' displeasure at dealing with the consequences of his actions is respectfully disregarded. He may still be infatuated with us, but we're pretty much done with him.

I just love how you can denounce a former major member of this forum with out sharing even a shred of evidence past "HE DID IT" And as to who I am, drop by #girlybois on furnet IRC, and ask for me. Yes I am on good terms with Ashes, but can quite safely say I'm not him. Oh and could you send the log to his email ashleyashes1983@gmail.com, if this is his log, then surely you won't mind?

The Admins not supplying Ashes with the allegedly abusive logs reeks of suspicion to me.

Guys, if you want to be taken seriously, forward Ashes the IMs concerning him.

I know Ashes from when I used to live in Ottawa.
He's a weirdo and oftentimes a cynic, but he's not the type to go around and do this.

I smell hacked account.

If not a hacked account, then a similar e-mail/IM name to his being used to impersonate him.

You should work with Ashes to resolve this issue as admins, instead of publically issuing a 'warning' about an issue that may very well be indicative of direct abuse going on towards one of your forum frequenters. (Banned or not.)
