Anyone have extra computer RAM?

Postby Featheredragon » 28 Jul 2009, 14:33

Hi!

Does anyone have any 256MB 3.3V 168-pin module of PC100 or PC133 unbuffered SDRAM that they'd be willing to part with?

I'll pay up to $5 for a working module or I'll consider a swap (depending on the item) from the list found here.

Wishing everyone a good day!

Hi Darky!

To answer your question:
-- historically, companies are notorious for overcharging on SDRAM, so, I'm not likely to get a good price and I'm not going to pay a high price for memory that outdated
-- I doubt I could buy memory and have it shipped to me for 5 dollars or less
-- it's not important enough for me to bother looking there which is why I probably didn't think of it
-- I thought the forum might be a good place to ask; maybe somefur's got an old stick or RAM laying around which would otherwise be worthless to them

Thank you for the idea though! :3

That would be appreciated :3

Just make sure it works if you find any though. ^.^

(Unless you want to give it away for free in which case it doesn't matter since I wouldn't bepaying you for it).

Thanks again!

I may have a few sticks at work. No promises though. I'll let you know tomorrow when I go in.

I have a stick somewhere. But your timing is horrible. It's somewhere in a box in my storage. Digging through it all to find the stick will be a pain. If you still need it a month from now, we can talk.

Sure, a month is fine! ^^

Basically, as long as I'm using this computer I'll be interested. I'm not planning to retire it for another 3 to 4 years unless it's necessary so bring on the RAM ^^. And if you happen to have a good 128MB AGP card..... Say, I wonder if I could upgrade the CPU cache while I'm at it...hummm!

^^

I DEFINITELY have one of those at work... not sure the brand, but it's an AGP video card and it's far from recent. Probably a 128 or 256MB

My MB takes either a 3.3V or 1.5V AGP card. (See here) Basically, it will take either a 1x, 2x, or 4x AGP card. (I don't think anything after AGP 4x will be backwards compatible on an AGP 2x bus). As for graphics card memory, I think the maximum my chipset can support is 128MB. I'm not sure what would happen if I used a card with with more memory--probably the remainder wouldn't get recognized. I'll have to investigate that. (Intel said I could flash my AGP chipset to make it compatible with newer cards but I didn't want to chance it and mess up my MB.) Mind, I'm more interested in RAM than a graphics card. I'll take the graphics card off you only if it's compatible and if your asking price is low enough. My current one is pretty good.
